Our Story

Estopia started the way many good ideas do: with a bunch of friends asking why messaging apps always feel like they're built for someone else.

Some are made for gamers, full of memes, noise, and never-ending channels. Others are designed for companies — formal, bloated, and full of calendar integrations. And most of the time, you end up using five different apps just to stay in touch with your people.

So we thought:
Why isn't there one simple, calm space that works for everyone — without the chaos?

We didn't want to reinvent the wheel. We just wanted something that felt right. A platform where your group of friends, your family, your study group, your sports club, or even your startup team could all hang out — without being bombarded by notifications, popups, or weird UI decisions.

That's how Estopia began.

We built it around three simple ideas:

  • Give people spaces that make sense: servers, group chats, and DMs
  • Make it beautiful, fast, and calm by default
  • Always respect privacy – everything is TLS-encrypted, no tracking, no ads

In Estopia, you can set up a server for your project or team, start a private group for your band or your flatmates, or just send a quick message to your best friend. There's no algorithm deciding what you see. No "engagement loop" trying to keep you online. Just conversations — the way they should be.

We built Estopia because we needed it ourselves. But we quickly realized we weren't alone.

There are thousands of groups out there that don't quite fit into Slack or Discord. People who want something in between: modern, but not overwhelming. Simple, but not boring. A platform made for actual humans.

So here we are. Still building. Still learning. Still adding the features we'd want in a chat app — and leaving out the stuff we don't.

Estopia is for everyone.

For friends. For families. For small teams. For clubs and communities. For people who just want to stay connected — in a space that feels good.

And we're just getting started.
